Hi Everyone,

I am not sure if i am asking this question in the right topic place.

I am planning to be a part of this group soon as within few days i should have the USB EVDO with me from BSNL.

I cant wait to get my hands on it....

My Question is : Do we have any kind of Wireless Routers for BSNL EVDO?
i know we can connect EVDO to our laptop and start using it but with wireless routers more than one person can use it. My Family memebers also uses internet and i was thinking if we have any wireless routers we all could connect together with it.

Please let me know if we have any sort of wireless Routers or modems!

These days with falling broadband tariffs and more computer penetration, many user do P2P downloading through torrent when the purchase unlimited connections. For a speed on 256kbps unlimited connection, MTNL has costing for 599/- PM and BSNL has costing for 750/- PM in India. Most people take this connection to do heavy downloading. This means that they need to keep their computer running for 24x7. This invites system failures, system open to security risk, electricity consumption and over and above all HDD issues. What happens if we have a router/modem/device that has inbuilt hard disk in it and through a software we can load torrent files and then keep it powered on for downloading allowing us to shut down the computer. This saves lots of electricity, your main computer is not available for hacking and good for system health as it is shut down. Just a router acting as a download agent and NAS. What do you all heavy downloader think about this. Any ideas about such kind of device and its availability in India and any pricing information.

At present such routers are not available for sale in India. Alternatively you can always purchase them from internet / ebay etc. Also they dont seem to be as cheap as normal routers. Normal routers come in Rs. 1000 - Rs. 2000, wheras the page you listed gives a router @ $199 works out to Rs.9800. Not at all worth the price. Rather buy a small old pc, put some linux stuffs, and you can configure it as a router cum usb over ethernet + many more advantages.

Hi,

I'm new to this forum but old to EVDO. 3G routers are now becoming available in India. I managed to get one from a Mumbai company a few months back that supports all the modems available today from Reliance, Tata , BSNL and MTNL. I got a little portable router that can be powered by either the USB port of a computer, normal mains or a car adapter.

I'm very happy with it and I thought the price was not bad either. I use a Reliance Netconnect + card with mine but I have a friend in Bangalore who uses the same router with a BSNL EVDO card and he is really happy with it.

I use my router in the car mainly as I have a laptop and a Ipod and I wanted both to be connected to the net at the same time. It also saved me big time on Friday when I was at a tradeshow where the show internet suddendly stopped and we needed Internet for our display. Out came the router and within 2 min our display was operational and 4 of us were back on the net getting emails.

The device I have is certainly worth the money I believe and would recommend it to anyone that wants to share their EVDO or 3G card.

I have been reading in a lot of places people think the price is high. I honestly think it's resonable as I did a lot of research before I purchased. The routers that are availale here in India on ebay are 50% cheaper than the ones I could get from the USA and this one is portable. All the other were big desktop models.

I have just had a look on Ebay and here is the router I got:

There are also other models available as well.

Hope this information helps.

The basic concept is your router needs to have a usb port as i/p and give output via wireless or lan. This is what is the hardware capability of a evdo supporting router. Normal routers dont have this. So special evdo routers are required.

The WRT160N is a broadband router, which supports only ethernet input and wifi + ethernet(lan) outputs as far as my knowledge.

I purchased TL-MR3220 http://www.tplink.co...model=TL-MR3220 for my BSNL EVDO. I have Micromax MMX 300C which is not in compatible list yet. I tried the solution given by http://www.jakartawi...ng%20guide1.pdf

After trying many time I succeed to identify the MMX 300C on TL-MR3220 and able to connect internet for not more than 10-15 min . After this the router was not able to identify the MMX300c even after restarting.

Does anybody have solution of it.

Don't know about that router but the following modem works flawlessly with my MMX300C EVDO modem without any mods or extra software. I just plugged in the modem into the USB port, turned it on and it connected immediately. It was hand-carried from the U.S..

Hi,
I have been using the zte ev do wireless terminal (zte ac8700 modem) from BSNL and was looking for a wifi router.
Happened to visit a store and saw D-Link DWR 113 3G wireless router. The store guy was confident that it supports the aforementioned BSNL modem.

Can I get a feedback regarding that router or any other routers which are compatible with the BSNL zte ev do terminal.
Thanks in advance.

Hi,
I just purchased a TP Link TL MR3220 3G/4G router.. I am using ZTE EVDO AC8700 which is listed as 'compatible' in TP website but have not been able to get the router to work. TP Link status page mentions either of the three.. 3G/4G USB Modem: Unplugged.or Identifying or identified
Do you have any suggestions about this as I see you have been using the same router successfully with BSNL EVDO
Thanks.

Did you configure your username and password ?
If you have it identified that means the modem is switched from storage mode to modem and its ready to dial. normally if you have configured your logins correctly it should be working.

Have a look at the system log in the last menu and attach it here if possible

It has been more than 2 years since the last post in this thread. World has changed a lot in this time. Newer models with cheaper price are now available in India. I am asking the same question posed by the original poster, as I am new to EVDO. Kindly suggest me a not so costly wireless router to be used along side BSNL supplied ZTE 8700 modem. The ZTE 8700 modem and wireless router will be fitted in my Desktop to share internet connectivity with laptop and mobile (all mobiles and laptop will not be used simultaneously due to possible reduced speed). The main issue is detection and compatibility of ZTE 8700 with proposed Wireless router. Kindly advise. Thanks in advance.
